I know that fashion photography is one big bag of beautiful trickery. Isn’t most art? Even unveiled art concepts, like commercial art or art that is material-focused is about tricks. Think about it. If you look at a steel cube made by an artist to explore form and material and space, the trick is that we should care about it. We can hate it or we can love it, but art is the making of something into something. And to create fashion, sometimes you need to create a fake wind or make someone’s eyelashes look longer to make us look at a person as representative of fashion. And perhaps against all reason, it is art.
